THE WOODLANDS, TX. (September 26, 2008) -- The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau reports all of its hotels are open and fully staffed as are most restaurants and the area’s prime shopping spots, Market Street and The Woodlands Mall.
Nine hotels in The Woodlands house more than 1,400 guestrooms for vacationing families, individual business travelers and conferences. These include The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, Hilton Garden Inn, two Marriott Residence Inns, Courtyard by Marriott, Drury Inn & Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites and Best Western.
“While occupancy levels in our hotels are quite high, there are some rooms still available for business and leisure travelers,” says Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.
As always, travelers to The Woodlands are reminded to contact hotels directly to determine availability and rates.
The Woodlands primary shopping and entertainment destinations, Market Street and The Woodlands Mall, also are open during normal business hours, Wolda adds.
Local transportation in The Woodlands Town Center is fully operational and providing service during normal operating hours. Complimentary trolley service can be accessed throughout The Woodlands Town Center and air-conditioned water taxi service is available on The Woodlands Waterway®.
The Fountains at Waterway Square, the centerpiece of The Woodlands Town Center, is operating and continues to “perform” to synchronized music every 15 minutes from 6 – 10 pm on weekdays and 2 – 10 pm on weekends.
Several family entertainment venues in the area including Xploration Station, the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s new satellite education facility, and The Woodlands Children’s Museum, also are open in The Woodlands Mall.
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion remains closed indefinitely pending repairs.
